Obama's Big FU to the Jewish people and to the Jewish state

Mike L.
US president is to nominate former Republican senator as Pentagon chief next week despite criticism over his positions on Iran, Hamas, Daily Beast reports

WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama is ready to nominate former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel to be the next secretary of defense, the Daily Beast reported Friday, citing sources privy to the process...

Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican from Texas, told The Daily Beast Friday that he will oppose the appointment.

“Chuck Hagel’s opposition to Iranian sanctions and support for direct, unconditional talks with its leaders is both at odds with current US policy and a threat to global security," he said. "To make matters worse, he has called for direct negotiations with Hamas.

"The worst possible message we could send to our friend Israel and the rest of our allies in the Middle East is Chuck Hagel.”

But Hagel has also attracted support from pundits and former national security officials known for their opposition to what they perceive to be a vast pro-Israel lobby. Eleven diplomats, including five who have served as ambassadors to Israel, have spoken out in favor of Hagel's appointment, and prominent columnists Thomas Friedman and Joe Klein both dismissed claims he is anti-Israel, all but expressing their support.
"Vast pro-Israel lobby," eh?  It looks to me like the left is now mainstreaming the protocols.

{Oh, joy.}

80 percent of American Jews, including me, supported Obama during his first campaign.

Despite the fact that he wrecked whatever possibility there might have been in a negotiated conclusion of hostilities between the Arabs and the Jews through his counterproductive and racist demand for "total settlement freeze" and despite the fact that he supports the Muslim Brotherhood which is the foremost genocidally anti-Semitic political organization in the world today and despite the fact that he honestly believes that he has the right to tell Jewish people where we may, or may not, be allowed to live in the ancient Jewish city of Jerusalem, 70 percent of American Jews foolishly supported Obama during his second campaign.

And now he is thanking them for that support with a big FU.

"Progressive-Zionists" must be very proud.

Furthermore, it has to be understood that Obama is not a liberal on foreign policy.  That's the thing.  He's a liberal on domestic policy, for sure, but on foreign policy the guy is as hard-line right-wing as they come, in the very worst possible sense of those words.  One cannot support an organization as fundamentally rigid, reactionary, and racist as the Brotherhood and in any reasonable scenario be considered liberal.  Barack Obama is not a foreign policy liberal and that's where we got duped.

And here's a question:

When are liberal American Jews going to awaken from their vegetable torpor and recognize that when someone is consistently kicking you in the head it represents a pretty good indication that they're probably not really much of a friend or ally?

When?

What will it take?

Of course, it doesn't much matter now because Obama is entirely free to dismiss Jewish interests because he no longer needs our support.  It has been said that in a democracy people get the leadership that they deserve.  Well, we're getting the leadership that we supported, that much is certain.

    1. It is f*****g ominous news because it indicates that Obama is going to allow Iranian nukes... but we've known that for a long time, now, haven't we?

We've been sold down the river.

"Hagel, who served as president and CEO of the World USO from 1987 to 1990, expressed intense opposition to the USO Haifa Center during a tumultuous 1989 meeting with Jewish leaders, according to multiple sources involved in the fight to keep the post open.

“He said to me, ‘Let the Jews pay for it’,” said Marsha Halteman, director for military and law enforcement programs at the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), which led the battle to keep USO Haifa operational. …

“He essentially told us that if we wanted to keep the USO [in Haifa] open—and when I say ‘we’, he meant ‘the Jews’—he said the Jews could pay for it,” said Halteman, who recalled being taken aback by the comment.

“I told him at the time that I found his comments to be anti-Semitic,” she said. “He was playing into that dual loyalty thing.”

  3. So, assuming this is true, what are the odds the world's most exclusive club will go all out to stop one of their own? I'd think not likely.

I don't know, perhaps this is the president's "I'm Keith Hernandez!" moment. As in, "Fuck you, watch me do this just because I can."

  4. But at least he's not a Republican! Oh wait, yes he is. And a bitter homophobe, too.

(No wonder he loves Iran and Hamas.)

Gotta love this president's idea of 'reaching across the aisle,' at least...

  6. Well Obama did it.....nominated Hagel. In addition he nominated John Brennan for head of CIA. You remember him. He once referred to Jerusalem as al-Quds.

    Heh. Herte's Ed Koch:

“Frankly, I thought that there would come a time when he (Obama)would renege on what he conveyed on his support of Israel,” said Koch, adding, “it comes a little earlier than I thought it would.”

“It’s very disappointing, I believe he will ultimately regret it,” Koch said, “and it undoubtedly will reduce support for him in the Jewish community, but I don’t think he (the President) worries about that now that the election is over.”

    2. I love Ed Koch.

My family is from The City and Koch was mayor when I was a kid, so he'll always be the mayor of New York in my imagination.

He's like the New York Yankees or the Empire State Building. He's just always been there.

I do think that he needs to go bowling with Alan Dershowitz, however.

The two of them need to get the stories straight and stick with it!

      peachy keen grasp

      :O)

      LOL.
